While setting on my brother’s porch last fall I watched these humming birds enjoying some Kool-aid. After some time I decided to photograph these happy creatures. I sat my camera upon a tripod, attached a long cable to press the shutter and sat upon the swing to wait. I did not have to wait long before they came back, thirsty as ever.
I took perhaps 100 shots of these birds as I observed them jockey for position and try to get more than his friends. And in all those photos, I never did capture one that I really liked. Oh, I got lots of good photos of humming birds, but nothing that really reached out and grabbed me. So I did the next best thing; I combined three photos together to create this image. Life did not give me what I wanted, so I decided to change it and make it what I wanted it to be.
I know this is a lot easier to do with Photoshop and a bunch of photos, but the same thing can be done in our lives. If our lives are filled with negative attitudes, bad habits and wasted talents we can change things. People can alter their lives by altering their attitudes. We are jam packed full of potential, good qualities and untapped resources and we can change our lives and the lives of the people around us at the very moment we choose to.
The change we seek may not occur instantly, but we can begin the process right now if we choose to. It begins with our attitudes and must affect our behaviors. But if we truly desire a better life, we can begin today walking on the road that leads to a life that overflows with good things. Allow me to spread the canvas out before you; here is your brush and you may choose any color you like for your self-portrait. You may begin right now and don’t forget, If you don’t like the way your painting, change it.
Something to think about:
-
With the right attitude, all the problems in the world will not make you a failure. With the wrong mental attitude, all the help in the world will not make you a success.
-
It’s not what happens to me that matters most; it’s how I react to what happens to me.
-
The world is full of untold beauties for him who has the eyes to see them.
-
The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.
-
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing!
-
Life is either what you make of it, or what it makes of you.
-
Life is like a garment constantly being altered but never fitting perfectly.
-
More important than the length of life is how we spend each day.
