Early Sunday morning I found myself at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. A great place to visit (and it is free) especially early in the morning. I walked through the rose gardens, near the Lilly Ponds and through the green houses filled with exotic plants. As I was walking under a large brush arbor there was a big barrel cut in half with this tiny flower planted in it. It could not be over 2 inches tall but it was certainly the prominent plant.
Everything in this barrel seemed a florescent green, almost giving it an artificial feel, except this pink flower. In this photo I drained the color from everything green in an attempt to give the proper emphasis to my pink beauty. If you think about it, we all do the same thing everywhere we go. We each have our own ways of coloring our world. If we do not like a neighbor or coworker we make their bad qualities appear worse than they really are.
If we do not like a certain situation, we choose to paint it bad; if we like something we will gloss over the bad parts and only see the good. Love is blind, is it not? People who have bad attitudes are the ones who look for the negative side of things, and guess what; they find what they are looking for.
Each of us, find life just like we expect to find it. Life is a mirror; frown at it and it will frown back at you. Happiness doesn’t depend on the actual number of blessings we manage to scratch from life, but on our attitude toward them. Happiness is the habit of looking at the good side of things. There is something new and wonderful in our lives every day if we would only look for it.
Today, let us realize that our point of view is everything. Let us choose to look for the good things in our lives. Don’t look at what you might have lost, look at all the wonderful things you have left. Look for something good, and guess what? What you find is determined by what you are looking for.
Something to think about:
-
Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens. Circumstances and situations do color life, but you have been given the mind to choose what the color shall be.
-
The world is full of untold novelties for him who has the eyes to see them.
-
We see things not as they are, but as we are.
-
If you know I only send what is for your good, you will see all things good and will know it passes through My love as it comes to you.
-
There is very little difference in people, but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.
-
There is no danger of developing eyestrain from looking on the bright side.
Your good looking friend (the guy who looks for the good)
