A field of wild flowers slowly sways to the rhythm of a gentle breeze. Watch as each one rocks and pulses to the cadence of some silent drummer. Set here long enough in their presence and you too will begin to feel the music that moves them. Close your eyes and slowly become aware of the sweet fragrance of the perfume factory growing at your feet.
The rays of the early morning sun slowly kiss each petal to awaken them for another beautiful day of blessings. He reminds them that they have a wonderful job ahead of them this day. They are here to represent their creator and bring happiness, beauty and good cheer into the lives of all who come their way. They may not work or sew, but not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of them. I can almost hear Mr. Sun look down and tell the original flower children, “You got it going on!”
How fantastic it must be to spend your days simply to be a blessing to those who cross your path. Can you imagine living your life for the welfare of others? How blessed it would be if everywhere we went the world smelt better, looked better and radiated with good will. Flowers never have to worry because they know that the one who provides for their two legged friends watches over them as well. Yes, flowers have a wonderful life.
But the good news is that we can have a life that far exceeds that of the flowers in every respect. If we choose to we can bring laughter and good cheer into the lives of those we work with. Our family could enjoy the sunshine of life if we smiled more, loved more and just slowed down a little. Why not spend a little part of this day and visiting and old friend, helping someone less fortunate or reaching out to a stranger in need? Share the sunshine you have received with those in your life today; what have you got to lose?
Something to think about:
-
A man who could make one rose . . . would be accounted most wonderful; yet our heavenly Father scatters countless such flowers around us! His gifts are so infinite that we do not see them.
-
Every morning the sun rises to warm the earth. If it were to fail to shine for just one minute, all life on the earth would die. The rains come to water the earth. There is fertility in the soil, life in the seeds, and oxygen in the air. The providence of our Provider is about us in unbelievable abundance every moment. But so often we just take it for granted.
-
Flowers are heaven’s masterpieces.
-
I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station through which our Lord speaks to us every hour if we will only tune in.
-
The Infinite has sowed his name in the heavens in glowing stars, but on the earth he has sowed his name in tender flowers.
-
The tree is full of poetry.
-
The more I study nature, the more I am amazed at the Creator.
Grow where you are planted
