I am an early riser, or perhaps I am just a creature of habit. Anyway I went to bed with the intention of watching the sun rise. But I was jolted out of bed the next morning by the light streaming beneath the curtains. I glance to the clocks red glow proclaiming 3:40 and know that the clock is wrong. I hurl the covers back and stagger sleepily to balcony where I am amazed to find the source of the brilliant light. When I peer through the curtains I am surprised to discover the moon smiling back at me.
It was still three hours before I could see the glories of the rising sun. My senses had deceived me and reason had led me astray. Common sense told me that a bright light shinning beneath the curtains could only mean I had overslept. But how could I complain about the moons con job when it treated me to this unforgettable scene. It was like Halloween had come a month early. The moon had put on a costume of the sun and went trick-or-treating. He rang my doorbell and then ran and hid above the emerald waters and sugary sands.
How many times have we been rewarded because we dared to ask silly questions? It was silly to believe the sun was out when the clock said 3:40 in the morning. But I would have never taken this photo had I not had the guts to ask a dumb question. We need more curiosity because knowledge begins with wondering, questions and honest doubts. Set a child to wondering and you have put him on the road to understanding. We ought to challenge current prejudices, disturb the complacent, obstruct the busy know-it-all and stop answering questions nobody is asking.
Life is a test that has more questions than answers. And it is strange how much you’ve got to know before you know how little you know. The important thing is to not stop asking questions. Stay curious and don't lose your wonder. And even if we do not know all the answers, we should know and care about the questions. Doubts and questions are not always a sign that a man is wrong; it may be a sign that he is thinking. Doubt is not the opposite of faith; it is one element of faith. Have the courage to question the answers and remember in the night of doubt men discover the light of new hope. Happiness is a choice; and a question is the first step toward truth and happiness.
Something to think about:
-
The silly question is the first step towards some totally new development.
-
It’s a healthy thing now and then to hang a question mark on the things you have long taken for granted.
-
Doubt is the hammer that breaks the windows clouded with human fancies and lets in the pure light.
-
There are two ways to slide easily through life: to believe everything or to doubt everything, both ways save us from thinking.
-
He who asks a question is a fool for five minutes; he who does not ask a question remains a fool forever.
-
He that boasts of his own knowledge proclaims his ignorance.
-
I am not young enough to know everything.
-
No man really becomes a fool until he stops asking questions.
-
Our heavenly father has never turned away the questions of a sincere searcher.
Thankful for a curious heart
