Standing on the bank of this mountain stream Saturday was a tremendous experience. The snow was falling with a gentle grace that made it unforgettable, the sounds of the breeze blowing through the trees and the stinging cold on my face and hands help me recall very vividly the time I spent observing this remarkable river. This was one of the few places where the water seemed still and peaceful. But this was only an illusion because the water was deep and moving rapidly as it carried everything in its way quickly downstream.
I recall standing here with my finger on the wrist of the river trying to feel its pulse and discover what it had to teach us. And it did not take long before I could hear and see an incredible expression of persistence, perseverance and determination. It was as though the river told me to stand back and watch, I may be weak as water but I can move mountains. I may not be strong and hard like steel, I may not be talented or educated but no obstacle can stand in my way; what I lack in strength I make up in will power.
What is the difference between the impossible and the possible? The answer lies in determination and a willingness to keep on going and to never give up. There is a great amount of power and strength that comes from doing the best you can every day; you can go through any obstacle provided you meet it with consistency, hard work and willpower. It does not matter if you are not the most talented, richest, most intelligent or voted most likely to succeed; all that matters is your willingness to work and your never taking no for an acceptable answer. Remember, where the willingness is great, the difficulties cannot be great.
Take your eye off the obstacles in your life and stay focused on your goal. Determine what you want and go make it happen; you can do it. You can have anything, go anywhere, and become anything you desire if you are willing to work for it; if you fall, get up and begin again; if you fail, start over. Just keep on traveling toward your goal and never give up. Every day something is being done that couldn’t be done yesterday. What was impossible yesterday can be yours today; it begins with a choice and it shall be yours if met with honest effort and persistence.
Something to think about:

Instead of crying over spilt milk, go milk another cow.
-
Life is a grindstone; whether it grinds you down or polishes you up depends on what you’re made of.
-
Great things are done when men and mountains meet.
-
Many have the right aim in life, but they never get around to pulling the trigger.
-
Failure is the path of least persistence.
-
Consider the postage stamp: Its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing till it gets there.

If Christopher Columbus had turned back, no one would have blamed him. No one would have remembered him, either.
-
Today’s mighty oak is just yesterday’s nut that held its ground.
-
It’s not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog.

Stick to your job until one of you is finished.
The guy telling you that you can do it…
