Ripple Effect

Ripple Effect . . .

Imagine that you are standing at the edge of a pool of crystal clear water, smooth as glass.  All around you there is calm and stillness.  As you look upon the surface of the lake it is like looking into heavens mirror, as it reflects the beauty which surrounds you.  Can you see this pool of water?  Of course you can, you have seen it hundreds of times.

Now, look down at your feet and pick up one of the pebbles scattered upon the ground.  It is just a small insignificant little stone.  Hold it in your hand and roll it between your thumb and fingers. Now, drop it into the water.  It barely makes a sound and vanishes beneath pool, never to be seen or thought of again.

Wait, something is happening.  That small insignificant little pebble did something at the point of impact.  It started a ripple.  First one little wave, then two, then four . . . and to your amazement you watch as the entire body of water is covered in the wake of one tiny stone.  That is the Ripple Effect.

Today, let me remind you as you stand on the edge of this day that your actions carry great power.  Every word you speak strikes the surface of someone’s life and starts a ripple.  Every deed you drop into pool of this day makes an impact.  What we do, what we say, the attitude we choose to have, they all makes a difference as we drop them into someone’s pool.

The good news is, we get to choose our pebbles.  I can choose to be kind as easily as I can choose to be hateful.  I can choose to throw smiles or frowns.  Criticism or complements.  Praise or complaining.  Today, I get to choose if I am going to be a blessing or a curse in the lives of the people I meet.  Happiness is a choice . . . choose to have a positive effect today.

  • “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” ― Mother Teresa on the Ripple Effect.
  • Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple effect with no logical end.
  • No Act Of Kindness Is Too Small. The Gift Of Kindness May Start As A Small ripple That Over Time Can Turn Into A Tidal Wave Affecting The Lives Of Many.
  • Each time a person stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, these ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.
